Lantania allocates 1.2 million euros to resources for environmental risk management and prevention

• The Group reaffirms its environmental commitment in the framework of World Environment Day and presents its 2024 Sustainability Report

Madrid, 5 June 2025. Lantania joins the celebration of World Environment Day and reaffirms its environmental commitment with the publication of its 2024 Sustainability Report. The report voluntarily incorporates NEIS standards (European Sustainability Information Standards) established by the new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), thus anticipating regulatory requirements. Furthermore, the company has proactively introduced GRI standard indicators, expanding traceability, comparability, and depth of analysis.

The infrastructure, water and energy group allocated over 1.2 million euros last year to the management and prevention of environmental risks. Notably, more than 800,000 euros was invested in R&D projects focused on environmental improvement and reducing ecological impact, alongside funding for specialised technical staff in environmental risk management and prevention, as well as the renewal of the vehicle and machinery fleet by incorporating hybrid models or those powered by renewable energy.

The new Corporate Sustainability Policy, Sustainable Purchasing Policy, and the already existing Integrated Management System Policy have consolidated the Group’s environmental focus, promoting energy efficiency, the use of recycled materials, and responsible procurement within the value chain.

Lantania has verified the alignment process with the European Union Environmental Taxonomy, ahead of the requirements applicable to companies of its size. The results show significant progress towards sustainability. 72.3% of the Group’s operating expenses (OPEX) are allocated to activities that can be considered sustainable, and 34.4% already meet all the required criteria. Regarding revenue, 75.6% comes from activities with sustainable potential, and 37.6% already fully complies with European criteria.

Energy efficiency and circular economy

The energy transition is a strategic priority for Lantania. During 2024, the Group consumed 1,272 MWh of electricity, of which 53.08% came from renewable sources, representing an increase of 226% compared to 2023. This progress was made possible through supply contracts backed by Guarantee of Origin certificates and the development of in-house facilities, such as the self-consumption solar plant at the Travypsa factory in Luceni (Zaragoza), which generated 47 MWh in 2024.

In its emissions reduction strategy, the company has re-registered in the Carbon Footprint Register of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and has begun calculating the Scope 3 Carbon Footprint, with the aim of achieving ISO 14064 certification in 2025.

This line of action is complemented by a strong commitment to the circular economy. Lantania integrates the principles of the circular economy into its processes. In 2024, the Group generated 1,540,101 tonnes of waste, mostly from construction and demolition. Of these, more than 99.98% were recovered through recycling and reuse processes.

An outstanding example of this strategy is Travypsa. The precast concrete division’s factory of the Group actively collaborates with its customers and suppliers to improve reverse logistics of packaging and reuse manufacturing waste. In 2024, it managed to return 750 kg of rubber bands used for the protection of steel bundles to its supplier and deliver more than 865 tonnes of concrete manufacturing waste to a recycled aggregates production plant.

Lantania prioritises the reuse of excavated earth and natural materials, which are essential for its activities. The surplus is allocated to the restoration of degraded areas, rehabilitation of quarries, or improvement of roads. Moreover, in some projects, the company acts as a valoriser of external material. In 2024, Lantania repurposed 124,561 tonnes of excavated natural material.

In line with its responsible management model, the Lantania Group reaffirmed last year the ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), and ISO 50001 (energy efficiency) certifications. These renewals were joined by two new certifications, ISO 19650, applied to information management in BIM projects, and ISO 39001, which strengthens its commitment to road safety.

These initiatives reflect the principles of Lantania Group’s 2022–2026 Strategic Plan and are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which guide its commitment to responsible and sustainable development.
