The Lantania Group company, in a joint venture with Railsur, secures an 8-million-euro contract that will improve rail operations at the port
Madrid, 17 January 2025. DSV Constructora y Ferroviaria, a company of the Lantania Group, will carry out the expansion of a rail yard in the Port of Seville located in the Palmas Altas area, at the entrance to the port facilities. The Port Authority of Seville (APS) has awarded the joint venture formed by the Sevillian company and Railsur a contract worth 8 million euros including taxes for the construction of a shunting platform adapted to trains of up to 750 metres in length.
The proposed solution in the project includes extending the current access track platform along its left-hand side. DSV Constructora y Ferroviaria will build a three-track rail yard in the Palmas Altas area, which will facilitate train crossings in and out of the Port of Seville. The contract execution period is 16 months, and work is scheduled to begin before the end of this year.
The port of Seville is an important railway logistics hub in the south of the peninsula, which stands out for its strategic location within the territory, good land connections, maritime access and multimodality. It is linked to the main transportation hubs in the surrounding area, with regular maritime and rail departures, and connects by train to Sines (daily), Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, Extremadura (steel plant) and Cordoba. Thanks to this action, railway operations will be faster and more agile, allowing several actions to be carried out simultaneously.
DSV Constructora y Ferroviaria specialises in the construction and maintenance of conventional, high-speed, metropolitan and tramway railway works. The Seville-based company carries out all kinds of activities related to railway infrastructure, including civil works, installations, maintenance, repair and overhaul. Founded in 1994, DSV Constructora y Ferroviaria has been part of the Lantania Group since 2022. Among its most notable works are the current renovation of the historic iron bridge in Mérida, the extension of the Orduña station (Biscay) and the construction of the technical branch of the Northern Section of Line 3 of the Seville Metro.
