Lantania appoints the current head of its Renewables division as Energy General Manager

  • Rafael Alcón will head one of the Group’s fastest-growing divisions, which already accounts for more than 30% of its annual order intake

Madrid, 5 April 2024. Lantania has appointed Rafael Alcón, in charge of its Renewables division until now, as Energy General Manager. The executive will become a member of the Management Committee and will report directly to the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Federico Ávila. Alcón has been part of Lantania since 2021, when he joined the company to head the Renewable Energy division.

With an Industrial Engineering degree from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and a Master’s in Large Project Management from IESE-Structuralia, Alcón has extensive experience in renewable energies with more than 5GW built in markets as diverse as Europe, the United States, Latin America, Japan, the Middle East and South Africa. Prior to joining Lantania, he worked as EPC Global Director at Isolux and as Operations Director at Elecnor, always in the field of renewables.

In his new position, Alcón will be responsible for managing one of the Lantania Group’s fastest-growing areas, which already accounts for more than 30% of its annual order intake. The company is present in the main energy sectors. It promotes, designs and undertakes renewable energy generation projects (solar farms, self-consumption, wind farms), transmission and distribution projects, and projects associated with electricity infrastructure in the railway and airport sectors, as well as in the naval sector. The company has installed 1.3 GW of renewable energy, more than 2,100 km of transmission lines, 1,000 km of catenary and more than 50 substations.

The changes at Lantania Energy are completed with the appointment of the former Director of Renewables Operations, Jorge Barea, as the new Director of Renewables. As an Industrial Engineer and with a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Barea has spent his entire career to date in the renewables sector.
