The Lantania Group company, in a join venture with Travipos, will supply 85,000sleepers for the Lorca-Almería section
Madrid, 14 May 2025. Traviesas y Prefabricados de Aragón (Travypsa) has been awarded one of the four lots of the sleeper supply and transport contract granted by Adif Alta Velocidad for the track assembly of the Lorca-Almería section of the Murcia-Almería High Speed Line (HSL). The Lantania Group company, in a joint venture with Travipos, will supply and transport 85,000 next-generation sleepers for an amount of 11.8 million euros.
Travypsa has made a significant investment in its Luceni plant for the acquisition and preparation of moulds, goods and equipment necessary for the production of these new sleepers, with the aim of meeting the project’s requirements and maintaining its leading position in the railway sector.
With over six decades of experience, Travypsa produces precast concrete elements, with a particular focus on the railway sector. The company started its activity in 1962, and from 1980 onwards, specialised in the production of monoblock type prestressed concrete sleepers. Since then, it has expanded its range of products to meet the requirements and expectations of the different national railway operators.
The company has a manufacturing plant located in the town of Luceni, in the province of Zaragoza, on an 8-hectare plot of land. The facility has two large industrial buildings and a tower-type plant for the production of concrete for own consumption. The fully automated sleeper manufacturing process follows a carousel system, which ensures uniform product quality.
Travypsa is currently involved in several major projects, including maintenance of ADIF’s conventional network (Lot 4, Northeast Zone) and the extension of passing loops with a useful length of 750 m in the stations of the Zaragoza-Tarragona section. It also participates in the comprehensive renovation of the Grisén station (Zaragoza), the replacement of sleepers in the district of Tardienta (Huesca) and in several works for the adaptation of the railway highways in the northeastern area. In addition, it has been involved in the maintenance of the Bilbao Metro lines, in the Basque Railway Network (Euskal Trenbide Sarea, ETS), as well as in several works for private clients.
