The company, in a joint venture with Garcia Rivera and El Ejidillo, has carried out a comprehensive intervention to regenerate the coastal environment and improve its landscape integration, accessibility, and envoromental quality
Madrid, 4 May 2026. Lantania has completed the works for the recovery, reorganization, and environmental enhancement of the La Pineda seafront promenade in Vila-seca (Tarragona), an intervention that has transformed approximately 33,000 m² of the coastal frontage. The works, carried out in a joint venture with García Rivera and El Ejidillo for Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, involved a comprehensive regeneration of the coastal environment, significantly improving landscape integration, accessibility and environmental quality.
One of the most notable actions within the project was the relocation of the promenade approximately 20 metres inland, allowing for a wider beach area and enhancing coastal protection against storm events. In addition, a substancial section of the seafront road was removed, redefining the urban edge and giving way to a more open, accessible, and natural space.
The intervention also enabled the restoration of the dune system, the improvement of pedestrian connections between the city and the coastline, and the creation of new public spaces and recreational areas, consolidating the promenade as a higher-quality public space.
The inauguration of the new promenade was attended by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Morán; the Mayor of Vila-seca, Pere Segura; and Lantania’s Director General of Infrastructure, José Alberto Carrasco, and North Zone Delegate, Antoni Solé. During the institutional visit, attendees toured the main areas of the project and highlighted the scope of the transformation delivered.
The project included major technical works such as earthworks, demolitions, paving, and a complete renewal of urban services, including street lighting, sewerage, irrigation, and potable water supply. New pedestrian connections and signage were also implemented, together with the installation of urban furniture.
In parallel, new leisure areas were created, featuring children’s playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, and specialised surfacing. A total of 92 benches were installed, and more than 20,000 trees and shrubs were planted, contributing to improved environmental comfort and landscape quality.
