A Coruña, 30th July 2020. Lantania is working on the development of a 250-megawatt (MW) wind project portfolio in Galicia. The infrastructure, water and energy group has already started the administrative procedure before the Galician Government for the construction of four wind farms with more than 150 MW of power, three in the province of A Coruña and one in the province of Pontevedra. These projects, channelled through its investment vehicle LAN2030, will involve an investment of 146 million euros over the next three years, the estimated time frame in which they plan to reach commercial operation.
This investment will have a direct impact on the local economy, 33 million euros will be allocated to infrastructure improvements and civil works in the parks while 4.5 million euros will be municipal taxes and 4 million euros will be dedicated to technical project development expenses with local engineers and specialists. In addition to these amounts, the projects include an investment in wind turbines valued at more than 105 million euros. The company’s objective is for the 30 wind turbines needed for these 150 MW to be manufactured in Galicia, at least the shafts and blades, which would mean an additional volume of over 45 million euros for the region’s industry.
Lantania’s team of professionals has extensive experience in the construction of renewable generation projects, including evacuation infrastructure (substations and lines), an area in which the company specialises.
Lantania has an important implantation in the Galician community. In fact, the company’s offices in Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Ferrol centralise the company’s energy and naval installation services. These teams are also responsible for carrying out work in the region for clients such as Red Eléctrica de España (REE), Navantia, Ence or Megasa. “We have a firm commitment to Galicia and as a Galician I feel proud that the company can contribute to the development and growth of my community,” says the president of Lantania, the carballés, Federico Ávila.
Last year, the Group concluded two of the most important works of the AVE to Galicia for Adif, the Porto-Miamán section and the Corno tunnel, both in the province of Orense. The first of these, carried out in a joint venture with Avan Integral, involved the construction of 6.5 km of railway platform belonging to the Puebla de Sanabria – Ourense subsection of the High Speed Line of access to Galicia, and includes two viaducts and a 1,840 metre-long tunnel.
The second of the works consisted of the construction of a railway tunnel over 8.5 km long (the Corno tunnel, right lane), as well as its emergency exit and two in situ prestressed concrete viaducts for the same AVE line. This work was carried out in a joint venture with Taboada and Ramos. Also, in Orense another of the works in the Galician high-speed corridor is in the liquidation phase, the 6 km-long O Cañizo tunnel (left lane), carried out jointly with the construction companies Copcisa and ASCH.
In the water sector, with the recent acquisition of Soil Tratamiento de Aguas Industriales, Lantania has incorporated the management of two treatment plants for the Xunta de Galicia, located in the municipalities of Laxe and Camariñas, in the heart of the Costa da Morte, and which serve a population of 10,000 inhabitants.
Lantania builds large transport, water and energy infrastructures to improve quality of life and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable world. The company has a portfolio of work in progress of more than 300 million euros and assets of more than 80 million euros. The construction of the Almudévar dam (Huesca) and the bridge over the Genil River in Huétor-Tajar (Granada), the expansion of the Guadalajara Hospital and the electrification of the first section of the Ave to Extremadura are some of its most outstanding projects.
