Lantania Will Electrify the First Section of the High-Speed Rail Corridor to Extremadura

 

  • Adif awards Lantania, Sacyr Neopul, and Comsa the first contract, totalizing 30.12 million euros, to electrify the Plasencia-Badajoz section of the Madrid-Extremadura high speed rail corridor

Madrid, 2 July 2019. The Board of Directors of Adif, High-Speed Division, has granted the Joint Venture formed by Lantania, Sacyr Neopul, and Comsa Instalaciones y Sistemas Industriales with the first contract for the electrification of the Plasencia-Badajoz section of the Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed rail corridor, totalizing 30.12 million euros.

The works include the erection of the overhead line (catenary) between Plasencia and the Peñas Blancas fork, along 125 km. The work will be carried out on four different sections.

This project also includes the electrification of the Plasencia and Cáceres stations, along with the Train Overtaking and Parking Posts (PAET) in Aldea del Cano and the Automatic Block Signalling Station (PB).

The construction is expected to start at the end of 2019 and last for 18 months.
