It joins the construction and engineering working group for the sustainability drive
Madrid, 20 June 2024. Lantania Group reinforces its commitment to the UN Global Compact Spain which it has been participating in since 2021. The infrastructure, water and energy company has joined the Target Gender Equality accelerator programme and has also formalised its enrolment in the construction and engineering sector working group for the promotion of sustainability.
Target Gender Equality is an accelerator programme driven by the UN Global Compact that seeks to enhance women’s representation and leadership in business. This initiative, now in its fifth year, helps companies set and achieve ambitious goals for women’s representation, equal pay and leadership in business.
During the nine months of Target Gender Equality, Lantania will participate in a comprehensive learning process that includes analysis, capacity building workshops, didactic sessions and dialogues. The aim is to establish two key objectives to help improve equity within the company: increasing the representation and inclusion of women at all levels (SDG 5.5) and ensuring equal pay for work of equal value (SDG 8.5). At the end of the programme, the company will develop an action plan to put everything learned into practice.
Target Gender Equality is equipped with the best resources and materials from leading organisations such as UN Women, ILO, Catalyst, Harvard Kennedy School and Lean In, among others. In addition, during the programme UN Global Compact Spain will involve a coalition of experts from the United Nations, leading companies and national organisations, such as the Women’s Institute and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE).
UN Global Compact Construction and Engineering Working Group Spain
The company has joined the construction and engineering working group created by UN Global Compact Spain to address the environmental and social challenges facing this sector. This initiative focuses on contributing to the creation of more sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and counteracting the effects of climate change (SDG 13), among other Goals included in the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
The working group has defined a three-year course of action, focusing in its first year on sustainability in general and in this second year on environmental aspects. Lantania will participate in the four sectoral workshops planned throughout this second year, as well as in the four specific actions (survey, collection of best practices, etc.) and a results presentation event.
The Lantania Group, steadfast in its commitment to sustainability, has been a participant in the UN Global Compact since June 2021. All company decisions are based on the universally accepted Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption. The company aligns its production and consumption model with the adoption of measures in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mainly those related to climate change mitigation, sustainable use and protection of resources, transition to a circular economy and pollution prevention and control. Through responsible and sustainable business performance, Lantania contributes to the fulfilment of eight of the 17 SDGs that make up the 2030 Agenda.
