Lantania installs acoustic barriers on the high-speed railway between Bergara and Irun for 23.5 million

  • 53 acoustic screens will be installed along 7.4 kilometres

Madrid, 6 August 2024. Lantania has begun work for the installation of acoustic barriers in the Bergara and Irun section of the new High-Speed Line (HSL) Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián, known as the ‘Basque Y’. The Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group has been awarded, in a joint venture with Copcisa, a 23.5-million-euro contract from Adif AV for the installation of 53 acoustic screens along a total of 7.4 km.

These barriers aim to minimise the noise generated by passing trains. They will be installed along the platform between Bergara and Astigarraga and, on the conventional line between Astigarraga and Irun, in the municipalities of San Sebastián, Itsaso, Errenteria, Hernani, Irun, Lezo, Oiartzun and Tolosa. Lantania will install various types of panels based on efficiency criteria: from absorbent acoustic screens (metallic) to transparent screens (methacrylate) and mixed screens (metallic + methacrylate).

In addition to the installation of these acoustic barriers, other tasks will be carried out, such as drainage, replacement of affected services, provisional situations and construction accesses, among others. The work is expected to last 24 months.

This work is funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with financing from the European Union-Next GenerationEU.
