Lantania joins the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB)

  • It will be part of the platform that promotes the integration of biodiversity in companies under the ‘Knowledge’ formula

Madrid, 24 July 2024. Lantania joins the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB), a public-private collaboration platform coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation, an entity belonging to the Ministry for Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) whose objective is to promote and foster the integration of biodiversity in business management. The infrastructure, water and energy Group thus reinforces its commitment to protecting the environment and ecosystems.

Lantania’s membership in the IEEB has been established under the ‘Knowledge’ formula and is subject to a code of conduct that supports companies against greenwashing. The company will have access to all activities generated within the platform’s Community of Practice and to dialogue spaces for sharing best practices, learning and exploring opportunities to contribute to the initiative’s purpose. In addition, IEEB provides its partners with advanced technical and scientific expertise related to natural capital valuation, biodiversity impact and dependency assessment, as well as coordination with strategic allies in this field.

Lantania is committed to the conservation of natural heritage and biodiversity, elements which it considers crucial at every stage of its projects. The company incorporates preventive measures for natural heritage established in the Environmental Impact Statements in the form of Environmental Monitoring Plans, aiming to protect biodiversity, and reduce, or even mitigate, its impact.

The IEEB is a public-private collaboration platform that seeks to involve the business sector in the improvement and maintenance of biodiversity and natural capital by promoting collaboration between companies, NGOs and public organisations. It is aimed at entities in the business sector that want to learn, explore opportunities, advance and show their commitment to nature conservation. Currently, more than 100 companies are part of this initiative, which provides the opportunity to highlight the contribution of the Spanish business community to biodiversity at the international level by forming part of the Global Partnership for Business and Biodiversity, the EU Business @ Biodiversity Platform and the Amsterdam Declarations Partnership.
