Lantania lands new projects worth 47 million euros in Poland

  • It will oversee the renovation of the tramway and road network in the centre of Lodz as well as the construction of a new building for the city’s Land Registry Office

Madrid, 21 October 2022. Lantania will undertake projects worth 47 million euros (PLN 225.5 million) in Poland. The infrastructure, water and energy group has been awarded, through its subsidiary Balzola Polska, five new contracts in Lodz for the renovation of a tram line, the modernisation of one of the main roads in the historic city centre and the construction of the  Land and Mortgage Registry building. Located in the centre of the country, the city of Lodz is the fourth most populated city in Poland.

The Lodz municipal investment agency has awarded Lantania a contract for the renovation of the tram line between Legionow and Cmentrna Streets in the city centre. The project is divided into three parts, which the company has won in full and for which the total amount is 24.3 million euros. The company will carry out the renovation of a 4.2 km long tram line, the stone paving of unpaved pavements, build the catenary and all underground networks, plus traffic lights and landscaping works. Work will begin before the end of the year and is scheduled to last 10 months.

Lantania will also be responsible for the modernisation of one of the main roads in the historic centre of Lodz, Mielczarskiego Street, for 4 million euros. This is part of a set of works that will be carried out to rejuvenate the heart of the city. The company will renovate a 500 metre long street creating a modern woonerf, a socialising space where children can play safely, pedestrians and cyclists can move freely and where cars cannot drive faster than people walk.

Also in Lodz, the company has been awarded a contract by the Court of Justice for the construction of a new building for the Land Registry Department, a project amounting to 18.7 million euros. The new infrastructure will have a usable area of 9,000 m2 and a total surface area of 40,000 m3 distributed over seven floors. The works will take 36 months to complete and are scheduled to start immediately.

Lantania in Poland

Balzola Polska, founded in 2008 and whose headquarters is in Warsaw, plans to close this financial year with a turnover of 38.1 million euros, an increase of 18% compared to the 32.3 million euros achieved in 2021.

Balzola’s recent works include the construction of new tram lines in the cities of Warsaw, Torum and Gdansk, the upgrading of the Mokotow tram depot in Warsaw and the renovation of Lodygowa Street, Trakt Lubelski and Jana Pawla II Avenue, also in the capital.
