The company wins contrat to expand the Ankara drinking water treatment plant, with an investiment of €73 million
Three solar parks (two 20 MW facilities and one 40 MW facility), are slated for construction in Italy for €35 million
Madrid, 16 October 2025. Lantania is expanding its international presence with projects worth a total of €108 million in Italy and Turkey. In northern Italy, the infrastructure, water and energy group will construct three photovoltaic parks near Bologna, with a combined capacity of 80 MW and an associated investment of €35 million. In Turkey, the company will expand the Ankara drinking water treatment plant under a €73 million contract.
These projects bolster Lantania’s international growth strategy in markets with high development potential. The company aims to further expand its portfolio in both countries and is currently bidding on new solar projects in Italy, expected to materialise in the first half of 2026. “Developing projects in Italy and Turkey marks a decisive step in strengthening our international portfolio and establishing Lantania as a global leader in infrastructure and energy”, said Federico Ávila, President of Lantania.
This expansion builds on the company’s recent operations in North Macedonia and Tunisia, bringing Lantania’s international presence to a total of 16 countries.
Expansion of the Ankara drinking water treatment plant
The Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) has awarded Lantania, in a joint venture with Turkish construction firm Özaltın İnşaat, the fourth expansion of the Ankara Central (İvedik) drinking water treatment plant. Valued at €73 million, the project will increase the facility’s treatment capacity to 2,226,000 m³/day, making it one of Europe’s largest water treatment plants. Lantania and Özaltın İnşaat will handle the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the new treatment unit, adding 564,000 m³/day to the plant’s current capacity.
The project is financed by the World Bank under “Sustainable Cities Project 2 – Additional Financing”, initiative, which aims to promote sustainable urban water management and strengthen Ankara’s water infrastructure.
Construction of 80 MW solar parks in Italy
In Italy, Lantania Energía will build three solar plants with a combined capacity of 80 MW, comprising two 20 MW facilities and one 40 MW facility. The associated investment totals €35 million. Lantania will execute these projects under turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contracts, overseeing the full development of the infrastructure. Additionally, the company will manage the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plants for their first two years of operation.
Construction of the solar parks is expected to be completed by June 2026. Once operational, the three plants will generate an estimated 118 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 27,000 households and avoid 29,500 tons of CO₂ emissions each year, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint.
