Lantania obtains ISO 20400 certification for Sustainable Procurement

  • The Group has been accredited by AERCE for its good practices in supply chain management

Madrid, 4 January 2024. Lantania has obtained the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement certification that accredits its good practices in supply chain management. With this standard, the Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group endorses its commitment to the principles of social sustainability and those of the United Nations (UN) through its procurement strategy and processes.

The company became the second in the construction sector to obtain this certification awarded by the Spanish Association of Purchasing, Contracting and Procurement Professionals (AERCE) under the guidelines of the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM). Both entities guarantee responsibility for the sustainable and efficient management of the Group, as well as the generation of added value both for its direct value chain and for society.

With the collaboration of the consultant Fullstep, the Lantania Group has carried out an exhaustive 12-month process to analyse its management model and carry out the necessary modifications to obtain the certification. The standard, which is private and valid for three years, provides guidelines for integrating sustainability into an organisation’s procurement strategy, and defines the principles of sustainable procurement in terms of accounting, transparency, respect for human rights and ethical behaviour.

Obtaining this certification demonstrates “the process of continuous improvement of Lantania’s  Procurement division, in line with the Group’s strategy of sustainability, ethics and social responsibility. Achieving this also allows us to have greater supply chain security and supplier risk monitoring to ensure that our procurement is responsible,” says Lantania’s Chief Procurement Officer, Ignacio Chacón.

Supply chain monitoring

To ensure constant monitoring of supply chain risks, Lantania has recently incorporated Moody’s Analytics’ Supply Chain Catalyst tool into its procurement management. This system gives the company the ability to evaluate the performance of its suppliers on key environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. One of its features is the ability to assign a sustainability score to the companies that Lantania works with on a day-to-day basis, allowing it to identify and collaborate with companies that share its objectives in terms of sustainability and ESG risk mitigation.

Obtaining ISO:20400 certification adds to the company’s existing certification, which demonstrate its commitment to quality in all its processes: ISO 9001 (Quality Management System Certification), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems Certification), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Certification) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems Certification).
