Lantania ranks in the global Top 5 for desalination projects in 2024–2025

• The Group takes the fourth spot in the ranking of desalination plant suppliers compiled by Global Water Intelligence (GWI) and the International Desalination and Water Reuse Association (IDRA)

Madrid, 27 October 2025. Lantania has strengthened its position among the world’s leading players in the water sector. The infrastructure, water and energy group has secured a place in the global Top 5 as a supplier of desalination plants by awarded capacity for the 2024–2025 period. The ‘Desalination and Water Reuse Handbook 2025–2026’, published by the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) in collaboration with Global Water Intelligence (GWI), ranks Lantania fourth in this category, based on the award of several major desalination contracts.

The company will build the Jubail desalination plant (Saudi Arabia), with a capacity of 600,000 m³/day and featured in this year’s report, as well as the Ras Mohaisen desalination plant (Saudi Arabia), with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day, set to be featured in the next edition. These projects are complemented by the construction of a desalination plant in Hicha (Tunisia), with an initial capacity of 7,500 m³/day of desalinated water, expandable to 15,000 m³/day, designed to supply irrigation water for greenhouse crops.

These contracts further bolster Lantania’s extensive experience in the sector, which already includes the Jubail 3A plant in Saudi Arabia (600,000 m³/day), fully operational since 2023. As a result, the company now ranks 10th globally as a constructor of desalination plants over the 2016–2025 period.
