Lantania, recognised by the Fundación Caminos (Civil Engineering Foundation) for its participation in the AVE to Galicia

  • It receives an honourable mention as a collaborator of Adif in the winning project of the tenth edition of the Segovia Aqueduct Award

Madrid, 16 May 2023. Lantania has been recognised at the Fundación Caminos (Civil Engineering Foundation) Awards for its participation in the construction of the AVE to Galicia. Last Friday, the Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group received an accredited certificate as a collaborator in the winning project of the tenth edition of the Segovia Aqueduct Public Works and Environment Award awarded to Adif for ‘High-speed access to Galicia. Bringing territories closer’. Lantania’s Infrastructure Business Development Manager, José Nofuentes, received the honourable mention.

Lantania has contributed to this infrastructure with three projects in the province of Orense: the platform between Porto and Miamán and the Corno and Cañizo tunnels. The company, in a joint venture with Avan Integral, built the railway platform between Porto and Miamán, a project that included the construction of two viaducts with launching gantries, the one at Valdemouro, over 400 metres long, and the one at Montegrande, approximately 490 metres long, as well as a 1,840 metre long tunnel, with its corresponding emergency exit and a train overtaking and parking station (PAET).

Another one of Lantania’s projects in the high-speed rail access infrastructure to Galicia was the construction of the Corno tunnel (right track), carried out in a joint venture with Taboada Ramos. Located in the section between Lubián and Orense, it is the longest of the tunnels built on the Zamora-Orense section of the high-speed rail network. This work was awarded the 2019 Potencia Award in the Tunnels and Underground Works category. The third recognised project, the O Cañizo tunnel (left track), was carried out in collaboration with ASCH and Copcisa.

These projects have also been recently recognised by the Civil Engineering Association of Galicia, which awarded the XII San Telmo Award to the best engineering work executed in the region between 2020 and 2021 to Adif for the High Speed Access to Galicia last April. Lantania received three certificates for its participation in the project for the Miamán platform, the Corno tunnel and the Cañizo tunnel.
