Lantania has been allocated the construction of a section of the Baix Llobregat bus and bicycle lane

  •  It will carry out the works affecting the C-245 road in Viladecans for an amount of 7 million euros

Madrid, 20th July 2020. The Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia has allocated Lantania the construction of a section of the bus and cycle lane in the Baix Llobregat, in Barcelona, for 7 million euros. The infrastructure, water and energy group will carry out the works that affect the C-245 road as it passes through the municipality of Viladecans, with a length of 2.4 km. Between calle Pi i Margall and the Paseo de la Marina roundabout, two lanes will be built combining bus, private vehicles and bicycles. The work also includes the construction of a large square near the Mortuary.

This contract is part of the construction project on the C-245 consisting of the adaptation of a current section of this road of 13 km between the towns of Castelldefels and Cornellà de Llobregat to include a bus lane, a bicycle lane and order in the urban environment of the road. The work has been divided into five lots, one for each municipality that the old regional road crosses: Castelldefels, Gavà, Viladecans, Sant Boi de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat. The one awarded to Lantania, corresponding to Viladecans, is the one with the highest amount.

The deadline for execution of the work is 24 months and it is expected to start during the month of July. The project will transform the classic road into a corridor that will make the implementation of an efficient public transport possible, giving priority also to cyclists and pedestrians. The new bus lane will increase the commercial speed in urban sections by up to 25%, gaining traffic safety and reliability of public transport services. The C-245 road, parallel to the C-32, is one of the backbones of the Baix Llobregat and supports some 35,000 bus passengers every day.
