- The construction, with a budget of 3 million euros, will begin in 2019 and is expected to be completed in 12 months
Madrid, 7 October 2019. Adif has awarded Lantania the construction of a new electrical traction substation in Taradell (Barcelona), with a budget of 3 million euros. This new facility, which is part of the plan to improve the electrification system for Rodalies of Catalonia’s railway network, will increase and ensure optimal electrical supply to the trains in this stretch of the Barcelona-Vic-Puigcerdà (R3) line as they pass through the region of Osona in the province of Barcelona.
The traction substation will be built on land belonging to an old train stop in Taradell, located in an agricultural area. Construction work on the new substation is expected to begin before the year is over and its completion time is projected at 12 months.
The work that Lantania will carry out also includes executing the civil work, and the supply, installation, and commissioning of the electrical equipment for two high-voltage connections (25 kV), as well as the equipment for the transformers, rectifiers, feeders, the catenary system power supply, and the security installations. The construction work also encompasses the implementation of the control and protection system, and its integration into Barcelona’s Remote Energy Control System.
Lantania is a group that focuses its activities on large infrastructure construction projects, including transportation infrastructure, unique buildings, and water and energy projects. The company achieved 58,5 million euros in revenue in 2018, which was the first fiscal year where it was operational for the entire year. It has a backlog over 250 million euros and 80 million in assets.
The construction of the Almudévar dam in Huesca, the bridge over the Genil River in Huétor-Tajar, Granada, the expansion of the Guadalajara Hospital, and the electrification of the first section of the high-speed train corridor to Extremadura, all of them in Spain, are some of key references. Lantania has a staff of over 200 professionals with an average of 22 years of industry experience and an important machinery park integrated by more than 1,200 state-of-the-art pieces of equipment.
