The company has been awarded the construction of nine WWTPs with a treatment capacity of 95,785 m3/day
Madrid, 4 January 2023. Lantania adds the construction and commissioning of new wastewater treatment plants worth 48 million euros to its project portfolio. The Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group has been awarded the construction of nine wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), with a treatment capacity of 95,785 cubic metres per day.
Aguas de las Cuencas de España (ACUAES) (Water Catchments of Spain) has awarded Lantania the contract for the design, construction and commissioning of the wastewater treatment plant of Palma II (Palma de Mallorca), to be carried out in a joint venture with Tedagua and Copasa. A project totalling 118 million euros, in which Lantania has a 33.3% shareholding. This new facility will increase the current treatment capacity to 90,000m3/day, which is the equivalent of one million inhabitants and will reduce the nitrogen and phosphorus pollution load and will also include a tertiary treatment that will allow water to be reused for irrigation and municipal uses for flushing and gardens.
Additionally, the Sociedad Pública de Infraestructuras y Medio Ambiente de Castilla y León, S.A. (SOMACYL) (Public Infrastructure and Environment Society of Castille and León) has awarded Lantania, in a joint venture with Obras y Suministros Cuadrado (Works and Supplies), the construction and commissioning of six zero-emission WWTPs in Ávila, for a total amount of 4.7 million euros. These are the wastewater treatment plants of Solosancho, El Fresno, Serranillo, Martiherrero, Tornadizos de Ávila and Santa María del Berrocal. These facilities will serve a population equivalent to 6,488 inhabitants and will have a treatment capacity of 4,800 m3/day.
Also in Castille and León, a 950,000 euro contract was awarded by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Duero (CHD) (Duero River Hydrographic Confederation) for the treatment plant in the municipality of Villavieja de Yeltes, in Salamanca. This treatment plant will solve the wastewater discharges, serving a population equivalent to 921 inhabitants, with a treatment flow of 485 m3/day. With these contracts, in addition to the Trespaderne and Castrojeriz wastewater treatment plants, both in Burgos, which are already in operation, Lantania is consolidating its presence in the community of Castille and León.
Moreover, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, through the Directorate-General for Water, awarded the contract for the new La Cumbre wastewater treatment plant in Cáceres for 3.3 million euros. This facility will solve the sanitation problem in this municipality, serving a population equivalent to 2,000 inhabitants and with a treatment capacity of 500 m3/day.
