Lantania to build a 43 MW solar plant in Portugal for Prosolia Energy

• The development of the Boidobra facility involves an investment of more than €30 million for the independent power producer

Madrid, 20 December 2022. Lantania will build the Boidobra solar power plant in Portugal as well as its elevating substation and cutting station. The infrastructure, water and energy company has been awarded the project of the independent power producer Prosolia Energy (“Prosolia”) to build a 43 megawatt (MW) solar farm in the municipality of Covilha in the Castelo Branco region. The development involves an investment of more than 30 million euros.

Prosolia will include this facility in its operating assets and will be assisted by Lantania for the engineering, commissioning and operation of the plant. The Boidobra ground-mounted solar power plant will have a peak installed capacity of about 43 MW, of which 36 MW will be installed in a fixed structure and the remaining 7 MW in a tracker-type structure.

Lantania has already started work on the generation field, which is expected to be completed within a year. The company will install 78,820 solar panels distributed over 28.5 hectares, which will be capable of supplying some 70,000 MWh/year, corresponding to the consumption of 16,000 families. The clean energy generated by this park will save the emission of 18,000 tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere per year, the equivalent of planting 800,000 trees.

The Boidobra renewable solution is included in the portfolio of 300 MW of utility scale projects that Prosolia currently has under construction, and whose execution will be carried out throughout the first half of 2023. This portfolio of renewable projects includes the San Jorge solar power plant in Castellón, also built by Lantania, and five other renewable solutions totalling 110 MW on land in Portugal.

Prosolia Energy will invest more than 140 million euros in the achievement of these renewable solutions to increase its portfolio, including industrial self-consumption projects on roofs and floors, and to formalise its consolidation in the market as an independent energy producer.

Lantania has four solar farm under construction in parallel, totalling nearly 150 MW, throughout the Iberian Peninsula. The company has a list of over 300 MW worth of solar panel projects in commercial operation or already completed. The Boidobra solar farm is the first renewable energy facility to be built by the Group in Portugal.
