Lantania to build Casatejada electrical substation (Cáceres) for the Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed Rail Line (LAV)

Madrid, 20 August 2025. Lantania will construct the Casatejada electrical substation in Cáceres, which will power the facilities supplying energy to trains on the Talayuela-Plasencia section of the Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed Rail Line (LAV). The infrastructure, water and energy group has been awarded the contract for the construction and maintenance of this facility, along with the development of ancillary facilities, including autotransformer centres, and their maintenance for two years. The contract, awarded by Adif Alta Velocidad, has a budget of €14 million (excluding taxes).

This project advances the development of the high-speed rail infrastructure between Madrid and Extremadura. The contract includes the execution and commissioning of the Casatejada traction substation (405/±27.5 kV, 2×30 MVA) and five autotransformer centres located in Talayuela, Navalmoral de la Mata, Toril and Malpartida de Plasencia. Additionally, Lantania will build a metering park in Navalmoral de la Mata. The total contract duration is 48 months, with 18 months slated for construction.

The planned works include civil engineering and concrete foundations, construction of metal structures and buildings for high- and low-voltage equipment, installation of return cable conduits to the tracks and the creation of access roads and platforms. The project also encompasses electrical and control system installation, commissioning of the facilities, their legalisation and the provision of operational staff for the first six months following delivery. Furthermore, the contract includes the supply of the Integrated Distributed Control System, covering software development, licenses, testing, and technical documentation for all centres in the electrical area 503.
