Lantania to remodel electrical systems at Tenerife Norte Airport for €14.5 million

  •  The company  lands an Aena contract to upgrade the airport’s electrical systems, including improvements to ground-lighting

Madrid, 16 March 2022. Lantania will carry out the upgrade of Tenerife Norte – Ciudad de La Laguna’s electrical systems. Aena has awarded a €14.5 million contract to the infrastructure, water, and energy group to remodel the airport’s electrical systems, which will include improvements to the ground-lighting system.

The works already underway are predicted to last three years and include modifications and civil works to adapt the airport’s electrical equipment, as well as new tubing pipelines for high-low voltage and communications. Most of the measures will improve the energy performance of the facilities with the aim of making them more environmentally sustainable.

Lantania, in a joint venture with Ciser, will carry out low and medium voltage remodelling and modifications to the airport’s power plant, distribution rings, and transformation centres. It will also be tackling the Ground-Lighting Control building, along with the control and SCADA systems.

The works will ensure that the Substation is a reliable and up-to-date system, for which its 20kV busbar will be modified, updating the protections and signage of the existing booths. The 3kV busbar will also be replaced and new HV cabins be installed.

The works will join the Main Panel with the Regulatory Panel to increase the system’s reliability and have an alternative power supply to the regulator panel in case of failure or maintenance of the UPS equipment. The planned works for the high voltage distribution rings aim for the complete replacement of all defective parts, as well as the unification of the parts in all sections of each ring.
