Lantania to renew the exterior lighting of the M-30 south arch with LED technology

  • It has been awarded a 6 million euro contract to modernise the exterior lighting of Madrid’s ring road

Madrid, 6 October 2023. Lantania will carry out the renovation work of the exterior lighting of the south arch of the M-30 in Madrid. The Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group, in a joint venture with Etralux, an Etra Group company, has been awarded a contract worth nearly 6 million euros by Madrid Calle 30 – a company 80% owned by the City Council, which is the owner and company in charge of the management and maintenance of the M-30 – to renew the electrical power and lighting elements of a section of the Madrid ring road, adapting them to LED technology.

The main work to be carried out by Lantania is the dismantling and reassembly of existing poles and columns, installing 1,177 new LED lights and 124 LED projectors. The work is scheduled to take 32 weeks.

The work will be carried out on the south arch of the M-30, a route that runs from the Puente de Ventas to the South Junction. During the works, more than 1,300 light points will be changed and more than 200,000 ml of cable (about 50,000 ml of line) will be laid.

The purpose of the renovation is to adapt the lighting levels of the exterior lighting of the ring road due to the age of the installations. In addition, the energy efficiency of the installation will be modernised and improved thanks to LED technology.

The project to renovate Madrid Calle 30’s outdoor lighting installations with LED technology has three main objectives: to adapt the lighting levels provided by the installation to current regulations, to increase the energy efficiency of the installations and to renovate obsolete components.
