Lantania wins the contract for the maintenance of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport’s flight area and access roads

  • Aena awards the company a 14.4 million euro contract for the maintenance of the movement and access area of the Madrid aerodrome
  • The company will once again take charge of the conservation of CIEMAT for 4 million euros

Madrid, 13 June 2024. Lantania will carry out the maintenance of the flight area and accesses of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Aena has awarded the Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group, in a joint venture with Saglas Obras y Servicios, a contract worth14.4 million euros for the maintenance of the airfield, urbanisation and access roads to the Madrid aerodrome for a two-year period, extendable for the same period and amount.

The works include the maintenance of civil infrastructure, green areas and facilities associated with the runways, all roads, including access roads, car parks and the rest of the urbanised spaces. The most significant elements include, among others, runway braking areas, aircraft de-icing facilities, horizontal signage, all drainage and sanitation elements, beacons, urban furniture and other fencing and safety barriers.

CIEMAT Maintenance

Furthermore, Lantania has been awarded the maintenance contract for the Energy, Environmental and Technological Research Centre (CIEMAT) for the next two years for an amount close to 4 million euros. The company will provide civil works maintenance services (masonry, plumbing and painting) for the CIEMAT headquarters in Madrid, which is classified as a nuclear facility, supervised by the Nuclear Safety Council (CSN). The complex, located on Complutense Avenue in the capital, occupies 71,000 square metres and houses the vast majority of its human and material resources.

In accordance with the uniqueness of this service, Lantania will assign staff with very specific accreditations, including radiological training. CIEMAT is a Public Research Organisation attached to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the General Secretariat for Research, focused mainly on the fields of energy and the environment, as well as related technological fields.

Lantania Services has extensive experience in the maintenance of urban environments in different areas such as road maintenance, pavements, horizontal and vertical signage, and street furniture. The company, with more than 2,600 streets and public roads maintained, is active both in Spain and internationally, carrying out works for municipalities such as Madrid, Las Rozas (Madrid), Arona (Tenerife) or Warsaw (Poland). The company has experience in the conservation of green areas with more than 2,000 hectares of parks and green areas. Lantania also carries out the maintenance of all types of buildings, including critical infrastructures such as the Gregorio Marañón Hospital and the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid.
