  • Elected as a member of the board of the global association for desalination and water reuse for the next two years

Madrid, 28 November 2024. Lantania Water’s general director, Pedro Almagro, has been elected as a new member of the Board of Directors of the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) for the 2024-2026 period. This appointment recognises Almagro’s extensive experience and leadership in the water sector and reinforces Lantania Water’s position as a global leader in the field of desalination and water reuse.

IDRA’s Board of Directors serves a two-year term and plays a key leadership role in guiding the organisation toward its mission of promoting sustainable desalination and water reuse solutions worldwide to address water scarcity. Board members are leaders in their respective fields and act as ambassadors for IDRA, enhancing the organisation’s profile and influence. Created in 1973, IDRA is a non-profit association with members in over 60 countries and more than 15 affiliated organisations.

For Pedro Almagro, “it is an honour to join IDRA’s Board of Directors and to be able to work alongside the most prominent leaders in the water sector globally. My goal is to use this opportunity to share my experience and contribute to advancing the sustainable development of the sector”. The director of Lantania Water will officially take on his role at the association on 12 December 2024, following the conclusion of the IDRA World Congress in Abu Dhabi.

Almagro has been part of Lantania since late 2021, when he joined the Group as Director of Desalination to become head of the Water division a year later. An Industrial Technical Engineer by profession, he has focused his professional career on the water sector, occupying various important positions at international level, leading the development of markets such as China and the United States.
