The company is carrying out the integral reform of the directional link in the A-4, a 26.3-million-euro contract from the MITMA
Madrid, 22 October 2024. Lantania has started the renovation works of the A-4 motorway junction with the SE-20 in Seville, starting with the geotechnical campaign and testing. The Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group is executing a 26.3-million-euro contract (including taxes) from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MITMA) to carry out the complete overhaul of the current directional junction between the A-4, around km 535, past San Pablo Airport, bordering the Pino Montano and San Jerónimo neighbourhoods.
The purpose of this redevelopment is to be able to make all the movements between the A-4 highway and the SE-20 without using the A-8008 road, allowing the connection with the future San Nicolás Oeste sector. The total length of the projected new roads, including speed change and weaving lanes, is almost 12 km. In this way, the entrances to Seville from the north can be decongested.
The planned actions began last September with the geotechnical study of the terrain and its topographic characteristics, as well as the signposting and marking of the construction site. In addition, work has begun on preparing the land in the auxiliary facilities area and setting up site cabins.
Among the works to be carried out is the construction of a fourth lane adjacent to the current A-4 platform towards Seville, which will later be separated from the existing main trunk via a parallel exit, connecting the right side of the A-4 motorway to a roundabout. The branch is designed with two lanes. In the opposite direction, SE-20/A-4 left bank, a branch similar to the current one is planned, even taking advantage of the existing overpass.
The work in both areas will include the implementation of longitudinal and transversal drainage systems, ground improvements and construction of the necessary structures. It will also include the executing of road surfacing and paving, along with the installation of permanent signage.
