Lantania collaborates with the ’31st Road Week’ organised by the AEC

  •  The road sector meets in Madrid from 10th to 12th November to discuss ‘Ecological and Digital Road Transformation’

Madrid, 8nd November 2021. Lantania collaborates as a sponsor in the 31st Road Week (31ª Semana de la Carretera in Spanish) organised by the Spanish Road Association (AEC) with the support of the Madrid City Council. Under the slogan ‘Ecological and Digital Road Transformation. Horizons of a sector in metamorphosis’, the congress is structured around four major themes: humanisation in urban environments, digital transformation of roads, ecological adaptation of roads and payment for infrastructure use.

The annual meeting of the road sector will take place from 10th to 12th November at La Nave in Madrid, an impressive open complex of almost 13,000 square metres that once housed the Boetticher lift factory. The congress’ technical programme is made up of eight working sessions which will be hosted in the Auditorium of La Nave, with capacity for 700 people. These sessions will delve into an array of topics: the humanisation of streets, roads and sleepers; green seal certified projects and programmes; first steps and overview of the digitisation of road networks, and examples of its successes and failures, pros and cons of different models and pay-per-use systems.

The inaugural session will be chaired by the Secretary General of Infrastructure of MITMA, Sergio Vázquez, accompanied by the delegate of the Government Area of Environment and Mobility of the Madrid City Council, Borja Carabante; the president of the AEC, Juan Francisco Lazcano and, foreseeably, the director general of Traffic, Pere Navarro.

This is the third time that Road Week has been held in the Spanish capital. Since it was held for the first time in 1963, the different editions of this congress have dealt with the fundamental aspects of road infrastructures: toll operation, quality control, traffic growth, land planning, new materials, road administration and the international nature of the sector, among others.
