Lantania, recognised for best environmental practices in decarbonisation

CEIM and the Madrid City Council recognise the company’s performance in carbon footprint measurement reduction and offseting

Madrid, 21 April 2026. Lantania has been recognised at the Best Environmental Practices Awards promoted by CEIM (Madrid Business Confederation-CEOE) and the Madrid City Council. The infrastructure, water and energy Group received an award in the Decarbonisation category for its work in measuring, reducing, and offsetting its carbon footprint.

These awards highlight the role of Madrid-based companies as key partners in the transition towards a more sustainable city. In this edition, 23 initiatives were recognised, demonstrating that innovation, growth and environmental protection are fully compatible with competitiveness. The awards form part of the first edition of the report “Sustainability. Best Practices of Madrid-based companies,” prepared by CEIM in collaboration with Madrid City Council.

Lantania was recognised for implementing an integrated decarbonization operational model embedded in both project delivery and corporate management. This approach combines rigorous carbon footprint measurement, the digitalization of environmental processes, and the use of advanced tools to monitor and reduce emissions across all activities.

The company’s Sustainability Manager, María Herrero, collected the award at a ceremony held last week. The award was presented by CEIM President Miguel Garrido de la Cierva and the Director General for Economy of Madrid City Council, María Jesús Romero de Ávila.

The recognition is supported by a set of initiatives reflecting the cross-cutting nature of sustainability within the organization. These include carbon footprint training programmes for site teams and eco-driving campaigns aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Lantania has also progressed in the decarbonisation of its energy consumption using Guarantees of Origin. In addition, the company has had its carbon footprint verified in accordance with ISO 14064 and has deployed digital environmental management tools across 100% of its projects. It has also developed an in-house carbon footprint calculation tool for its projects and launched a pilot initiative for climate risk assessment in construction sites. Furthermore, the company has strengthened its environmental commitment by joining the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB).

These actions deliver tangible results. Lantania has achieved 86% renewable electricity consumption at its headquarters, a reduction of approximately 73% in Scope 2 emissions, and full waste management traceability across all projects through digital solutions.

This recognition reinforces Lantania’s commitment to sustainability as a strategic pillar of its activity, fully integrated into day-to-day operations, project delivery and decision-making processes
