The company will participe in renewal works on the Madrid-Barcelona High-Speed Line and the conventional rail network aimed a modernising and improving this infrastructure
Madrid, 11 August 2026. Traviesas y Prefabricados de Aragón (Travypsa), a Lantania Group company specialising in the design and manufacture of concrete railway sleepers, will supply 146,000 sleepers for various projects to modernise and renew Spain’s railway network. The works are part of four contracts awarded by Adif to different temporary joint ventures (UTE), with Travypsa’s share amounting to €17.5 million.
The works include the supply of sleepers for the renewal of two sections of the Madrid–Barcelona High-Speed Line, between Mejorada del Campo and Brihuega (58,100 units) and between Ariza and Calatayud (34,650 units), as well as for the modernisation of 28.4 kilometres of the Madrid–Barcelona conventional rail line, specifically the Paracuellos-Sabiñán to Casetas de Ebro section (30,000 units), and 30.9 kilometres of the Selgua-Lleida section (23,250 units) of the Zaragoza–Lleida–Tarragona conventional line, contributing to the renewal of these railway infrastructures.
In the case of the high-speed line, the contracts form part of a track renewal programme aimed at maintaining the highest standards of safety, availability and operational performance on one of the country’s main railway infrastructures.
These contract awards strengthen Travypsa’s position as one of Spain’s leading manufacturers of concrete railway sleepers and consolidate Lantania Group’s presence in the railway infrastructure sector, a strategic area in which the company has extensive experience both in the supply of materials and in the execution of construction and maintenance projects.
About Travypsa
Traviesas y Prefabricados de Aragón specialises in the production of precast concrete products, with a particular focus on the railway sector. The company began operations in 1962 and, from 1980 onwards, specialised in the production of prestressed monoblock concrete railway sleepers. Since then, it has progressively expanded its product range to meet the requirements and expectations of different national railway operators.
The company has a manufacturing plant in the town of Luceni, Zaragoza, occupying a site of 8 hectares. The facility comprises two large industrial buildings and a tower-type plant for the production of concrete for its own use. The highly automated sleeper manufacturing process uses a carousel production system, ensuring consistent product quality.
