Renovation of the signaling and electrical facilities of the Tenerife North airport

Lantania is upgrading the electrical systems at Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna airport.

The actions included modifications and civil works to adapt the airport’s electrical equipment, as well as new conduits consisting of new duct banks for high voltage, low voltage and communications. Most of the measures improved the energy performance of the facilities with the aim of making them more sustainable.

Lantania, in a joint venture with Ciser, is making low and medium voltage remodelling, modifications to the airport’s power plant, distribution rings and transformation centres. It is also carring out work on the Beacon Regulators building, as well as on the control and SCADA system.

The works will make the power plant a reliable, redundant and updated installation, for which its 20kV busbar was modified, with the objective of updating the protections and signage of the existing cabins. In addition, the 3kV busbar will be replaced and new HV cabins will be installed.

The actions will link the Main Panel and the Regulator Panel, increasing the reliability of the installation and providing an alternative power supply to the regulator panel in the event of failure or maintenance of the UPS equipment. The actions carried out for the high voltage distribution rings will aim at the complete replacement of all defective sections, as well as the unification of the section in all sections of each ring.
